THE CHARM OF DENMARK

You will lose track of time

Located approximately 4-5 hours southeast of Perth, Denmark is a charming town located on the banks of the beautiful Denmark River and surrounded by a striking natural backdrop of native woodland, green farmland and the rugged south coast.

The area’s attractive scenery and serenity are a drawcard and inspiration for artists and culturally minded retirees, which has resulted in a thriving arts community. Creative and artistic expression is a defining trait of the community.

Guests can stroll local galleries and meet the makers of furniture, pottery, glass, sculptures, paintings and even jigsaws.

You can easily spend a day (or two) sipping your way through the region’s cellar doors. Dotted throughout the picturesque hills behind the town you’ll find several boutique wineries producing superb semillon sauvignon blanc and bold shiraz, among other varieties.

Follow the routes of the early timber cutters on the 34-kilometre Scotsdale Tourist Drive or take the Mount Shadforth Scenic Drive. Both trails will provide plenty of photo opportunities and take you past several cellar doors and a range of gourmet food producers.

Things to do in and around the farm

Stay at HABITAT and explore for days, with activities, beaches, food, wine and entertainment literally on our door steps:

Less than 10 minutes drive to some of Denmark's best pubs and restaurants (including The Dam, Pepper and Salt, Top Shed) and access to the Shadforth / Scotsdale area with its wineries (Singlefile Wines, Harewood Estate, Rockcliffe Winery) and tourist attractions.

And if it is nature you are after, the Bibbulmun track, one of Australia’s greatest long distance walking trails, stretching nearly 1000kms from Kalamunda (Perth Hills) to Albany (South Coast) through the heart of the scenic South West, goes right by the southern edge of the farm, within a short walk from the chalets and the Munda Biddi Trail, a world-class, off road, cycling trail which connects to several short distance biking trails, also goes right by the southern edge of the farm and is within a short walk, or mountain bikers can leave the farm and get straight on the trail.
